There may still be a Model 5 on a pole in downtown Squamish. Over in Nelson on the other side of the province, I saw several sirens around town about ten years ago. They looked something like a 2T22 without horns, covered with a chimney-like screen, but I couldn't see whether they had one rotor or two.

You cannot post attachments; you need to sign up to Photobucket or Flickr, then use that URL to display pics.

One of the last CLM Sirens in Toronto Canada

Fri Mar 27, 2009 12:02 am

This is one of the last CLM Sirens in Toronto.. P.S in that harbourfront picture; they are allertors ( i think an ACA Allertor that they took from the US before Canada got there own sirens). This Siren is in very good condition and weighs around 600-800 pounds all together. They were issued in the early 1960's

For a second, I thought I saw a Mobile D, due to the lack of a housing and that visible chain-cover at the back. Darn, I thought I found a jewel.

Also, where in Toronto does that CLM stand? I don't know as to when I'll be there again, but that looks like fun to see.

I went to canada today, went to strathroy. On the way from the bridge on 402 on my right I saw a siren(in Sarina). On the way back I stopped and took a few picks.
While I was at the Strathroy Emergency Vehicle show. Sarina's Emergency Management command vehicle was there, I poped in and asked the guys inside about sarina's system. They said that a new system has been put in and many of the old "civil defence" sirens are gone or left in place. Sarina has 16 sirens. But they didn't say what type.
They also talked about the new sytem for the chemical plants in Chemical Valley at the refinery's.

I drove into downtown over a mile from the 402 and didn't see any other sirens. Wish I had more time. Maybe another time? Anyway here's the pic's and the MSN link

Very nice pictures, nice to see another city who still have some old sirens kicking around! What type of sirens are those?

They're Allertronic 6000 sirens.

Great pics! Nice to see some of the old Al models still in place! You didn't see the Modulator at the VIA station? If only you would have been there on a Monday!
From one picture, it looks like the horn-channels are blended into the back plate rather weakly. Then again, there's eight channels.
