Nuclear Power Plant Siren Systems

Beaver Valley Nuclear had a system of Allertors that have since been replaced by 2001's. It disappoints me because in my opinion, I think Allertors are better. I'm itching to find out what they did with the old sirens.

The system is tested monthly, and I will try to get a video when the test is performed.

It is a "cats and dogs" system - The last count I had was 28 2001's - however, these are mainly add-ons for areas that have previously not had siren coverage. In some cases, the Allertors are being replaced by 2001's due to age-related problems. It is a trend that is likely to continue. However, the system included 53 Allertors, 36 Banshees, two Sentry 5V's, and two Klaxon Duplo's at the local nudist colony along the PA-OH border.

I didn't really discover that until last week that they still have Allertors and Banshees. Most of the 21 sirens I found are Allertors. So you're saying Beaver Valley Nuke actually has a couple 5V's? BTW I don't actually know if they test monthly or yearly.

Yes, they were located on what was the Crucible Steel property in Midland PA.

Crystal River in Florida also appears to have 2808s. EvanToTheFutureDude from YouTube says that where he was told where there was a 2805, he finds a 2808 instead.

I figured this would be more of an approriate thread to post this, but I found an updated list as of 10/26 of test times and days for VT Yankee.

The plant still does monthly testing I believe for 3 minutes in alert just like they did with the old system. Each town listed has a differnt day and time. I'm kind of miffed that I missed Brattleboro's test by a day.

When I went there in Febuary, they only tested it for about a minute and 30 seconds but it was very cold and windy so they probably didn`t run it 3 minutes so it would not get damaged(drain the batteries, break the rotator due to ice,etc.)

Fort Calhoun had a system of P-10s and they have been replaced by 2001-130s.

Were they single tone or dual tone?

I'm guessing dual tone, though I didn't get a good look at the intake cone.

I believe that Comanche Peak Nuclear actually has a system of 2001s (SRNBs and 130s) and not ASC iForces.
