Connecticut siren locations

Sun Mar 28, 2010 3:05 pm

Does anybody know of any other sirens in connecticut besides the ones marked on this map? I`m hoping to go see others in northern Connecticut.

I don`t know how to post links so go to google maps and search "Sirens in Connecticut" it should be the first map to show-up on the search results.

No idea on other Connecticut sirens, but to post links here copy the link first, then push the URL button above the message body, paste the URL, and press the URL button again.

Also, make sure that the "Disable BBCode" box is not checked.

All of the t-bolts shown are not in service unfortunately as well as about 15 others of those to, but many are fire sirens and some are used for storms, floods, etc.

There's several Model 2's in my town. I've seen 3 but there may be more. One is in use at a fire station and sounds in Attack for fire calls and sounds pretty healthy. The other 2 i've never heard.

There's also a few of what look to be Diaphone's on the downtown fire station. Those still seem to work as i've heard them before, but i haven't heard them recently now that i think about it.

Meriden, CT has several T-bolts. I've seen 2 of them myself but they were both in-active/powered off at the siren switch box. I've heard they were installed in the 50s which would make them 1000s.

There's three or four Tbolts in Stamford, The ruins of one in Greenwich, and one on the Farfield/Bridgeport line. There's two Siratone 612's in the town of Fairfield, a Whelen electronic next to I95 in Westport, and a 1212 in Norwalk next to Calf Pasture Beach.

Do you know the locations of the 2 EOWS 612`s and do you know if they are tested?

I've never heard them, and my kids lived there for about three years. One is at Roger Sherman School on Fern Street and the other is at the town transfer station off of Beach Road. They were used for storm surges / floods in the low-lying beach areas. Most of the street signs in that part of town have flood depth marker signs attached
