Chrysler siren on Cerro Negro Peak still there

After the disappearance of several Los Angeles sirens lately, I went on a (COLD, COLD, COLD) motorcycle trip up to see the Cerro Negro Chrysler siren yesterday, and saw that it's still there :D . I fear that with the value of the Hemi V8 engines these days, somebody'll sneak up there and steal it or mutilate it to get the engine out. Just FYI; it's been sitting for xx decades with the oil cap off, so the engine is probably totally rusted inside and seized up. I didn't take any pics, as the only way to "ride by" in view is on the Glendale Freeway, so no place to stop. 3 years ago, my wife and I walked all the way up to it, and got some good pics. Since this time I was at a distance, all I can say with confidence is that it's there... It could have been damaged or or parts taken off, an I'd have been unable to tell from the Glendale Fwy.

I think this may be the only original-installation Chrysler still 100% intact in LA County, or one of two if the Wilmington Tank Farm siren is indeed still there (I couldn't find it).

The one that was in BIGMIKESOCAL's video?

If so then that is freakin cool, im glad it is still there but sucks that it hasnt been sounded off in years.

I'm not sure... There is a video of the one at the military museum in Whittier, but that's a different Chrysler. It came from (allegedly) Pomona. If it was a video of a Chrysler being operated, it wouldn't have been the Cerro Negro one, as it's definitely inoperable and has been for years. There are 3 or 4 of them restored and privately owned, including Don Garlits', the one in Whittier, and Big Red in Texas.

The one in BMS' video was definately not operating. It was sitting on a hill, slowly falling to pieces inside a chainlink enclosure.

The chain link fence and posts were completey replaced around the
siren and other county communications equipment about 10 years ago ,
when I was up there in the early 90's the old fence had all kinds of patched
holes in it. :(
Heven only knows what might be lifted off the siren and for at least 25
years or more the side pannels have been off the housing to the siren :!:

The "Wilmington" tank farm Chrysler is actually in Compton. I believe it got it's name from the fact that Wilmington Ave runs past it. It's just a few blocks south of the 91 off the Wilmington Ave Exit.

Danny French, the guy from the American Military Museum who owns the Chrysler that we think may be from Pomona told me he previously tried to get the one by the tank farm but couldn't figure out who to contact.
