I'll sound the little Federal model L (assume it's an L; the ID tag is gone)... This time, I'll secure it so it doesn't wobble over the edge of the deck

Charles
Yes, that's a real 500-lb Federal SD-10 I'm holding (braggart!)

I've bought some parts for a siren that I was going to make with partial plans for blasting it on the new year, though I've never yet gotten around to building the siren, and now is too late for that. When I do finish the siren, I'll be blasting it, though I haven't even bought the motor yet.

I took apart a speaker horn I made out of paper cups and made a quick and dirty ACA Penetrator style horn for my flashlight siren using one of the cups and a cardboard tube. It has a deeper tone to it now than without the horn and I can also direct the sound.

I just finished doing a test out the window and I could hear it about 3 houses away clearly. Just need to recharge the batteries now and have it in hand for the 12:00AM blast on 1-1-07

Now I'm having second plans: I found out that the small chuck on our wood-lathe spins fast enough to make quite some noise when our air-compressor blows air against it, so I might blast my primitive siren for the New Year, though it is late tonight, so I will have to look for ways to get the most sound out of it tomorrow.

EDIT: I've got the lathing machine set up in my room, along with the hose for the air, which nearly just whipped my face when I disconnected it from the compressor by pulling the ring on the brass connector joint, along with making my ears ring. :D Now all I need is to bring the compressor up to my room, which is surprisingly heavy for its size! I'll make a video of the siren blasted at New Year's eve.

Update: man, did the test go well!
Though the camcorder makes it look quiet, you could hear this beast from across the street!! This thing was wild. Happy New Year!

Waiting for your video. I have the "mini Penetrator" ready with batteries warm off the charger but theres still two and a half hours to go for me.

I wonder what all the other So. California members are up to right now.

Here's my New Years blast of the 2T. http://media.putfile.com/New-years-2006-2T-blast . I ran it on 110VAC after having a slight altercation with my neighbor on Thursday over a bush I slam into with my old car (the bush is on our property, he's claiming it's his  ). After I stopped the recorder I blasted it again for another 3 seconds, than brought it inside just in case someone called the cops (no one did).

No sirens for me, but I think someone set off a big bomb around here, as the house shook a while ago. Still almost 2 hours to go for me.
Nothing but a low-down, double-dealing, backstabbing, larcenous perverted worm!

Instead of my planned Model A, I sounded a 115VAC 10" Wheelock bell.
