Good god, the motor popped out free.
Somehow it looked like the armature came off. (i didnt see the bearing)
I own some electric motors. Not any sirens yet.

It didn't come off, it snapped that 1 3/8 output shaft in half. The armature is probably still in the motor itself with rear bearing holding it in.

It actually snapped the output shaft in half.

Those SD-10's must not have been put on very strong poles, that's the second one to have fallen.

Rhett still needs a housing for his.

That's a class II pole, it just suffered from "butt rot" (giggity), which is a problem that affects all Creosote treated poles.

When creosote treated poles are in utility service they are treated on regular basis with chemicals to stop the base from rotting out. Unfortunately when they are holding up a siren they never recieve that kind of attention, until they get blown over.

well having a rotten butt stinks.. Dillon I talked to Rhett about it. Though that housings probably beyond repair. I'm working with Norman on picking it up, but they're not really wanting to be patient on it.

Are they planning on trashing it? I could ask someone to take me down there and let me pick up the parts. No guarantees though.

Don't think there's much usable there, looks like part of the stator where the motor bolts snapped off as well as the shaft snapping in half.I'd also bet the rotor is damaged also.Too bad It didn't fall on some soft wet grass instead of the hard pavement where the ground could have absorbed some of the energy.Siren might have survived the fall....
