As of this posting, they've always just sounded the alert (steady) tone over them; no voice announcements. Their website does state that they have the capability on the encoding side to broadcast both pre-recorded and live voice announcements over the Mods, and that all sirens in the system are set up with two-way reporting and monitoring. There's a chance that they may start using voice announcements after this event, though for all we know they could wind up getting enough grant money from FEMA (and other local sources) to entirely replace the current system.Brendan Ahern wrote:Do they use voice on the Modulators or just sound?
It's not, this Thunderbolt is pretty far north of where the tornado tracked through. As far as I'm aware, the only sirens that were in any danger of being blown away were two 2T22s, three Modulators, and the lone 2001 in the system. There is a third 2T22, another Modulator, and a different Thunderbolt that were close enough to the damage path to have possibly received some kind of minor damage, but the others listed above were in the direct path of the tornado.Remingtoncountry wrote:I have a feeling this siren is gone.
Map showing both the siren locations and tornado tracks from 1999, 2003, and this latest monster:
(GREEN track is from this latest tornado, BLUE track is from the 2003 tornado, and the RED track is from the 1999 tornado)
