Did you unwrap the tape around the coil to see if the leads are connected to the copper coil wires?

I'd like to know how close of an OEM replacement this actually is. Is it a bolt off/bolt in piece or are the screw holes and wiring terminals slightly off?

Eric,

I took the tape off and the wires appeared to be connected. All of the paper insulation completely disintegrated when I removed the tape.

It's not really that important to me to have a truly "original" RCM3, so I'm going to build my own with a solid-state flasher. I found one on eBay that I like. I'm hoping to rebuild the RCM3 in about 1/3 the space it currently occupies, because I don't feel like purchasing a large NEMA cabinet when I can rebuild it in less space and buy a smaller one.
