1000b or 1003?

I am not sure I will be able to get it up that far (35 feet)....I may only be able to do 16 ft.

When you say 1000B, do mean a B series Thunderbolt, or a single pahse Thunderbolt? If it is a B seires I would say the 1000B, there are not too many still standing or functioning. So I would vote on that one. If not, then I would say the 1003.

Its actually a model 1000B as read on the tag on the rotator box. Single phase all around including blower. Its not a series B i don't believe.

B stands for single phase, and A stands for three phase. Does that sound right?

Thanks all for the replies, I really appreciate it lots.... I am still unsure if its even ok to put one of my Thunderbolts in my backyard like i want to. I have emails that i have sent to the PD and th FD to see what they say. When I hear back I will let you all know. My hope is that its ok to sound these great sirens during the once a month runs. It would be ashame to just let it sit in the garage never to be heard again...my guess is that the city doesn't care but if neighbors complain then thats where the issues come up.

The city of Hillsdale, Michigan decided to test their 1003 at full-intensity at ground level before mounting it up a few stories. Ironically, they broke out dozens of windows by doing so. Their siren test was very costly.

Hey guys, so I asked the PD here in town about placing my siren in my backyard and this is what they said:

"Hello Chris!


You will NOT be able to add your siren to the village system. There are specific guidelines and procedures in place for the location, installation and testing of the warning sirens. The official sirens located in Vernon Hills have been placed in appropriate strategic locations by government officials and cannot be modified or altered.


The same holds true when it comes to you activating your personal siren. We cannot give you permission to do so. Not only is this certainly not practical, it would most definitely cause confusion and concern among the residents. It would be disruptive and disorderly. It would have an adverse effect and be extremely dangerous. In addition, such conduct could definitely lead to your arrest. I cannot stress enough not to do it.


I commend you for wanting to add to the safety of the community and appreciate your contacting us. However, I'm sure you understand the reasons why the answer to both of your questions is "no".


Pleas feel free to contact me at the number below if you wish to discuss this matter further."

If you set off a thunderbolt that's only 16 feet above the ground you will probably get arrested after the neighbors call the police.

If I run it only during the monthly testing of the other city sirens and with no blower, do you still think its an issue?
