I know the sirens in Champaign county test on the first Tuesday of most months (with the probable exception of the winter season) at 10 AM (Weather permitting), and during that time, the sirens sound a steady blast for maybe anywhere between 1 and a half to 3 minutes, then maybe a minute and a half to maybe 3 to 5 mins of silence followed by around a minute and a half to 3 mins of wail. I'm not absolutely sure on what I said, but I do know that if the sirens are sounding during a tornado warning, and if a new tornado or funnel cloud is spotted, the sirens are ran again. We don't use an "All clear" after the storm is gone. I used to live in Kansas City, and they'd test their sirens on the first Wednesday of the month at 11.

Yes, they did. It was located in the hose tower of the old fire station/village hall at 120 S. Clinton Street. The person who bought that building, may have left the siren up in the tower. Removing it from there would have been a major PITA climbing up all those stairs. However, if the siren can be dismantled and taken down, it would make a nice edition to someone's collection.

My town here in Wilmington, Ohio does an All-Clear on their Whelens, they do an Hi-Lo signal for about a minute after they do alert on the first Saturday of the month test.

On their 550AT, Calhan,CO runs a 3 minute alert for All Clear. Their Take Cover (warning) signal is three one minute activations, with 15 sec gaps.
Still close enough to a Fed Sig 550AT to drive out on test day: First Friday in May - 7PM!

Yes, it was the oldest sterling (90+ years of age!) that was still operational.

A lot of towns/counties won't sound an all clear because of the liability reasons. You say it's all clear, then somebody gets killed, your facing a lawsuit.

IMO I think an all clear is a bad idea.

After all the Tornados we had this year Drumright and Cushing stressed to people that they did not do a all clear after a incident. Cushing sounded the sirens and people took shelter then they re sounded them a little later and people thought that was the all clear when it was another warning. So I see why they don't do them anymore.

Some old systems used to do all clear in NY. Syracuse's thunderbolts sounded an All Clear after the test was done (if I recall correctly)
