Re: Toluca, IL: Very overprotected town?

Some towns do test differently than others. Ottawa and Tinley Park test at 10:30, Crete tests on the 1st AND 3rd Tuesday at 10 AM, and Rosemont tests on Mondays at 6 PM, and then of course many other small towns do noon siren blasts. That's why I contact the town if they don't have anything on their page, just incase they test a little different than others.

To me it looks like the omni siren is a Screamer. The coned top where no motor is visible and the fact that it looks too small to be Cyclone makes me think that. But in Street View it does not look like any siren I have seen. It looks a little weird: Link.

Well, boy oh boy, this town was amazing and have I got some information to share. First off, all Thunderbolts are 1000Ts, and the mystery omnidirectional was... a Cyclone! The Thunderbolt on the SW side of town is a B-Series Thunderbolt with the offset rotator. The test today was kind of weird. It first went off for 3 minutes of alert and then 1 minute of alert. From what the fire department said, the first test is by the county and the second is done by the FD. What's even weirder is that the Cyclone did not go off for the county test, but it for the FD test, so it's obviously not hooked up to the county, which they didn't say that, but it was definitely noticeable during the test. Now I'm not 100% familiar with all chopper settings, but I believe the Thunderbolts sounded at choppers 1, 2, 3, and 4. And probably the most interesting piece of information we got was the Thunderbolts were refurbished and installed in Toluca 6 years ago. They got them from a service in Michigan (West Shore maybe?) for practically nothing. If they're from Michigan, the offset Thunderbolt might be from Sterling Heights, but I'm not 100% sure.

Anyways, that's what I got from this amazing system, and I updated the map with all the new information. My videos will be up on Thursday, and I'll put them in the Audio/Video Forum.

I know this may be redundant, but I made a map, and I just wanted to test out the sharing settings on maps.
