We had heard that there may be some replacement/ additions. It looks like the ones they are replacing are SD-10's. Will have to see if we can talk with Mr. Starbuck and get some more info. A great number of the sirens here are old. Lots of SD-10's, STL-10's and of course the Cyclones. Bet the Cyclones hang around awhile. There are several T-bolt 1000's too. Would like to get our hands on these bad boys, but pretty sure that can't happen.

Edit

At least one of them appears to be a STL-10 that will be replaced.

Hate to say it, but even the scrap value of a cyclone would be pretty high... A LOT of copper in a 50 hp motor.

Usually when a siren gets removed in west texas, it just goes to another town.

I remember talking to their previous emergency manager Walt Kelley. He really liked those Cyclones and said he would have bought more of those if he could.

It's a shame to see those SD-10s go. Although they bring very little to the table in terms of output their sound sure accents the rest of the system nicely. I just hope they don't go after the Banshee or STL-10s. I would assume that those two Allertronics are on the way out though.

Did they ever decide what to do with the 2T22 that used to be by the mall?

I would offer to buy all the old sirens off em. Since Ben works for the city and Travis and Jeb are pretty far...I could put a bid in for all of us and go get em/store em. Then we could split up the spoils of the pot.

Yes, I work for the city so not able to make any bids if they go to auction. But as Jeb stated, they usually get given or sold to another city and put back into service somewhere else. However, I will be watching and see what happens.
