Got the siren and blower out of the shop this weekend and loaded on the trailer. New decals for it are supposed to be ready sometime this week.

Every siren is different and most restorations have been done within the past 10 years. If you think about it, they really don't get used much either, so it is too early to ask those questions. I'm sure most of the veterans on here haven't had to deal with problems on restored ones because they fix most of the problems when they have them apart.

Should be able to get another 30 years out of it with proper maintenance. These sirens have been around long enough that their failure points can be identified and corrected. They were built very tough and are extremely durable.

Pretty much everyone I've seen that's died has been from lack of maintenance or the 30+ year old radio screws up (which we DON'T reuse, stupid blue box).

I wouldn't put something up that I know is going to break down in a couple of years.

Not unless it replaced an existing siren that already had one, too expensive to buy one new. If one of these refurbs replaces an existing siren, it will (usually) have the existing controller setup re-installed with it. If it's a brand new installation, it will most likely get a shop-made controller/radio setup.

Siren is pretty much done now, will be installed the first weekend in March.
