P50 recording

Tue Jun 13, 2006 6:02 am

Hi I'm Mike K. brand spanking new to air raid sirens.com. I was the guy with Brandon who recorded the p50 in Lemont. We also have recordings of some Federal 2001's within the City of Chicago. To let most of you know we usually go to each test to record different sirens in the area. Brandon is the "siren" guy and I'm the "traffic light" guy. Since we met we became good friends and are well on our way to finding and plotting all of Chicago's outdoor warning sirens. Anybody in (or out) of the area are welcomed to attend. Our test day in most of Illinois is first tuesday of the month 10:00am sharp. Our next test spot is going to be a T-128 batt. op. siren. The location to be yet determined. I am having a slight problem with downloading the recording once sorted out I will have it on here ASAP. Thanks Adam for such a cool site :D . BTW what Brandon said was true. I was recording from the bed of my truck (Dodge w/ airhorns painted Federal yellow) and it shook when horn projector faced us. We were approx. 200 ft. from projector horn to us  .
Sincerely,

Mike K.

I know there's a p50 on the road to Gibson City, Illinois. I haven't actually been out there to hear it but I may soon.

I notice dat on alot of bucket sirens they dont keep on rotating they just...stop on the final winddown..must be more economical or something, or the designers thought ah who needs it to rotate on the winddown>?

I'll never forget the people's reactions when I first saw a T-135 go off in Memphis. I remember these two guys in particular who were coming out of the gas station that is situated right under the siren. Both guys were holding a six-pack of beer and holding one of their ears with their free hand.

I went back several months later and got the T-135 on tape. I still have that video saved on a CD dating back to 2002. I should probably put it on YouTube.

I just posted it on YouTube.

I also left in some never before seen footage of all of us setting in the car waiting for it to go off.

Hahahaha! :D

I remember when I first saw that video. This one has a bit more conversation added onto the start of it.

"It's not doing any thing" *muffled* "Gosh darnit" *rrrrrrooOOOOAAAAAARRRRRRR*

Ha! I love it! :P
