If I had to guess, in 1942, model 2s, 3s, and 5s would be fairly accurate, as these were the most common fire sirens of the time frame.

In which case they were probably single-toned sirens. However, there were a few dual-tone models around in the 1940's from Federal, as well as whatever Sterling and Hedberg were selling.
