The Siren Board

I third the motion to not do it. Come on man, you can't stand outside a fire department and demand they do something.

Is it just me, or do I remember the story of a young woman raising money for her town to install a siren? I think there was something of the sort a few years back. If anything, that's what I would recommend. However, there needs to be a reason that it "needs" to be brought back-they will not take you seriously if you tell them that you just miss the sound of it. That sounds a little harsh, I know, and I apologize for that, however, as I said before, there needs to be a reason for it to be there. Should seriously be taken into consideration before you start posting fliers about donating money for a siren or asking people to donate.

Where are you located? Tornado warnings vs fire calls...if you are in the northeastern part of the US, there are very few sirens used for tornado warnings.

I'm sure there are also many people who don't miss it. Truth is, much of the general public [at least around my region] consider sirens to be archaic. Some members here need to remember that sirens aren't up there to look an sound cool, they are up there to save lives. There are plenty of superior technologies these days to call firefighters to the station without ticking off the large percentage of the town's population that isn't into sirens.
