Texas doesn't do it because typically the sirens are tested monthly (and in some cases weekly) along with a host of other practice type drills that are run throughout the state during the year.

Nebraska does it even though most places around here test monthly or every other week. My county has had times where the statewide tornado drill is the day before, after, or even on the day of a regular test and they run both the drill and the regular test. Having a regular testing schedule is not an excuse not to have a statewide drill to spread awareness of tornadoes. The point of the drill is to practice taking action in the event of an actual emergency, including sounding sirens.

Michigan does it, but most (all?) EMAs in the state don't run their sirens as part of it, instead feeling that routine tests are sufficient for public education purposes. (Frankly, I can understand, having once been about 500 feet from Battle Creek's downtown 4/5-port 1000T during a test, with a nice glass-fronted building directly "behind" me compared to it, at a 180 degree angle to the siren, when I didn't realize it was coming--that sucker was *LOUD*!)

I was going to say, there was some poop flinging going on in this thread! lol.

I will try to get a video of our exercise at my school. I'll be in the gym already, so I'll get to see everyone else in the school just pile into the FEMA shelter like a bunch of sardines!
