The Siren Board

Supposedly there was one in Michigan in either Cheboygan or Charlevoix. Dont remember which. Mi fire departmentnts have a habit of keeping old things around. Be willing to bet money its sitting in some barn somewhere under a tarp for 20 years.

The post failed to give a precise location. I wanted to keep unverified sightings out as they lack any details.
The only locations I keep listed are those with details or (if practical) a photo. There were simply too many unverified boogeyman sightings which usually turned out to be fraudulent.

The odds of a Hurricane 130 in Michigan are so low. American signal and ACA systems in Michigan are not common; they are more common in central and downstate Michigan, but one in northern Michigan I highly doubt that.

I know Charlevoix does have a siren because there was a news article about their daily siren whistles. Although I believe it is a smaller fire siren such as a Federal Model. Although yet again the possibility of a siren just sitting in a barn under a tarp for the past 20 years is still likely.

Correct on the one in Charlevoix being a Federal siren. They have a 3T22 mounted atop the city hall/fire department building in downtown.

Wow! Never expected them to have such a large siren. I expected somthing smaller such as a Model 2 or 5.

A nice 3T22 - it looks as if it were peering menacingly from behind the building.

In regards to Hurricane locations, the only other bet is to search around for old city photos, news footage, or videos in hopes a Hurricane pops up in the background.

Very fascinating! I suppose that solves the mystery of the standpipe-like mounting of the Allertronic at the FD! (https://flic.kr/p/vH72ah) Though it seems interesting that they would replace them with more ACA sirens after they filed a lawsuit against them.
