Thanks. I'am going next month to do a video recording of this Hurricane-130 siren. So stay tuned. My YouTube channel link is in my signature area of this comment. You'll see it.

siren fan wrote:Yes they are long gone removed in the late 90's early 2000's. The P10 remained in service even after the ATI installs but was removed when the Whelen system went in. One Hurricane was probably 2-3 miles to my south-southwest. The other was 4-5 miles to my northwest. The P10 was 6-7 miles to my north. All rough guesses of course.
Oh ok nice. I guess the city had money to upgrade their sirens than. It kinda sad when these work horses of sirens get removed even though they can still be in service for the next couple more years. In my mind your city or county removed them way too early. They were still young sirens.

I agree, they never had any problems with them that I know of. I'm guessing someone on the city counsel pointed out that they were aging and needed a new system.

They weren't that old of siren in the late 90s to early 2000s. They're mechanical sirens. I bet they got replaced with a 2001. The most typical siren to replace amazing sirens with. -__-

I'm not sure what it was replaced with, but 2001's are very reliable sirens. The Hurricane had lots of issues, and servicing it was practically non-existing. Yes, the Hurricane may be a cool siren, but it just simply unreliable.

You'll laugh at what Garland replaced them with. ATI's........................Yes ATI's. Needless to say they didn't last a quarter of the time the Hurricanes did. They were so bad that Garland abandoned them for Reverse 911 before going with Whelen Vortex's a few years ago.

I know that. But they look boring and dull. At least the Whelen sirens have some styling in them compare to a 2001siren. So they could've brought more Whelen sirens than 2001 sirens. And high pitch tones don't travel that fair compare to low pitch tones (Like a T-128 or a T-135 sirens). So they could've brought T-128 or a T-135 sirens instead of 2001 sirens.

We are siren enthusiast. We enjoy sirens. Siren company's don't build sirens to impress us. They build sirens to warn the public. The 2001's are a cost effective siren. They may be "dull", but they are VERY effective.

One reason FS 2001's are the most common siren is their price. They're probably cheaper cost than Whelen and ASC.

2001s are very effective when you can hear at least 3 from your house. The roundback looks very nice, especially in civil defense yellow. Also, for people who complain about not being able to hear them indoors, they are called OUTDOOR warning sirens for a reason. They are designed to be heard outside. This is why emergency radios exist.
