Not too many nuclear plants still use them with the exception of maybe Pilgrim, which replaced all of their 408s, 1212s, 115s, and a few 612s with Modulators in 2005. The last of the 612s they have were purchased in the 1990's and still look like they are in pretty good shape. Unfortunately the 408 and 816 are pretty much extinct now.

Here's one of the last standing ones in Bay City. They might have another one still creeping around somewhere, but the rest are at WSS. RIR... Rest In Rot

Can't believe Bay City Michigan took almost all of the EOWS 816 sirens out of their outdoor siren warning system. All most all cities are going for the cockroach siren. The reason I'am calling it the "cockroach siren" is because they're sprouting everywhere almost in the whole of U.S. Like cockroach sprouts out when you leave trash behind. Sorry for the gross analogy but that's the truth though. Haha.

A little off-topic, but I turned to the right of the 816 and saw a MOD 3012!

You have a better eye than I do! I wonder what's up with that? Seems a bit overkill.

How is that overkill? My car's horn is louder than that Mod.

Speaking of WSS, I found this video and there are TWO 816s (This was in 2012 though):

Throw them away, scrap them, send them to a graveyard(like WSS, they have 2 812's. Also to clear up them being 816's for anyone.. this ad calls it a 812, don't know why.. but it just does.

Yeah, it really doesn't make sense, because each horn is 200 watts, 2 100 watt drivers put together, and there are 8 of them, so 1600 watts total. To make the number 812 make sense, 4 horns would have to be 200w (800 total) and the other 4 horns would have to be only 100 watts each (400 total), 400+800 = 1200.

Has anyone on here actually seen the insides of An 816(12) To confirm that that isn't the case?

Well here's a video with a 408 operating. @ 0:30 in alert and 3:27 in attack. Apparently it's somewhere in the Minneapolis area, but seeing that this video has some age to it the siren may be gone.
