Just looked in the manual, the 2001 and 508 use the same 6.5HP motor.

Thanks for the information. I was considering retrofitting one to an SD-10 rotor and stator. I was just wondering if it would have enough umph to spin it.

It should be okay, since DC motors have more torque than AC motors.

6.5, always has been for the 2001.
