Oh yea, I agree, the siren lawsuit against Federal is ridiculous. I was talking about them in general, but this one I do agree is one of the few that is really dumb. If they wanna go after someone, they should have gone after the apparatus manufacturer for improper soundproofing.

They should go after the department or city for not making rules that require hearing protection. When I was a conductor it was required by rule to wear ear plugs provided by the company to protect from the train horn and engine noise. They did not reduce the sound output of the horns. They are, however, placing the horns on the newer locomotives farther back from the cab, insulateing the cad from noise, and in some cases pointing all or most of the horns to the rear of the locomotive. Check out a brand new engine, all bells are back on some.
Q2B or not 2B that is the question.

He's smart enough to try to score some money. He doesn't care at all what's right or wrong, or what the siren was made to do. He wants bucks, period.

Not that loud.

In all the fire apparatus and EVs I have ridden, it just is not all that loud.
Otherwise, I would wear earplugs.
The water spray noise from the shower, also echoed in the shower stall, is much higher sound level on the ear drum.
Leave a shower and notice if your ears are ringing.
I have never noticed ringing after siren exposure.

More sound pressure is on the ear drum from Ipods, earphones, flying, etc. I do wear earplugs while flying.
