Here's some pic's of the Siren disassembled and of the repaint.

All of the above rust was removed via my brothers work sand blaster.

Stripping the red on the base revealed black paint.

Nope just Rust-Oleum Sunburst Yellow.

Well, I put it back together, a few paint scraps later here's the finished siren.
I snagged a new cord out of our X-mas lights(since it hasn't been used in 3 years) I just need to redo the ID tag and put it back on.

Anyone have a pic of a ID tag for this siren older than 1970?

Usually on the serial number the last two digits are the year
1435532367=1967

On what's left of the tag, it states:

8195 (serial #?)

115 (volts?)

2.9 (amps?)

The tag was painted over, I tried to stripe it carefully, but the orignal paint on the tag was probably already gone before they repainted it.

Hmm 2.9 amps is a little high.
And my motor is 1 amp at 250 and 1.95 at 120
See mine was made in 1978, yours doesnt look too far off.

Amperes aren't pushed, they're drawn. So something as simple as a voltage change or even a new and better motor will effect how many amps it draws. Loading a motor will also provoke it to draw more amps as well (as the motor now has to work harder to achieve the same results).

Ohms law will help you figure out how many amps are drawn, given the voltage and resistance.
