I do hope I am posting this in the right spot, but was doing some research about the Thunderbolt in the Ferry Building and came across a post from 21 days ago...some seriously great pics of the Thunderbolt that is up there.

These pictures are NOT mine, and in fact are sourced from the below thread on Reddit from user Angey_Fach_429. I am not on here that often, so MODs, if this is reposted, please remove, but I couldn't find anything on here yet with these pics...

Pictures and conversation first posted here.

Game of tic-tac-toe anyone?

I am very excited to see more of this siren! Apparently it's fully active, just not included in the activation of the system.

Thank you to Angey_Fach_429 from Reddit!

Wow, looks like they welded it to the wall.

Why do I really, really want to add the meme caption: "When you run into a wall too hard"

It’s nice to see the actual siren still has logos unless that’s old pictures

These were taken not too long ago. The paint and logos are in such good condition because they're out of the weather, since it's all inside the tower.

And If it's still active, I wonder of someone could get permission to set it off. If those ATIs that play noon blasts ever break, then the 1000 could still be used. Now that I'm looking at it, I don't see them up there at all unless they're higher up.

Well, the ATIs haven’t been active in at least 5 years, and then unit on the ferry building was recently removed. That does give them good reason to revive the ‘Bolt.

They should revive it because that would be far better than ATIs. And it would sound cooler too….

It would definitely be nice to revive the tradition of a noon blast siren at the tower. Since the Bolt is so well preserved, I'm sure it would be relatively easy to get running again. It'd carry a lot further than any ATI could.

The breaker for it is on the wall in the background of the last picture seems to be deactivated. I bet that if you turn it on and manually test it, it would come back to life with barely any problems!

And if anyone knows someone who works at the ferry building, let them know about seeing if the 1000 could be reactivated for noon blasts!

Someone should contact them and get them to turn it on again
