Central West TX Sirens. **Pics Added 3/30**

Is that a T-bolt 7000 (gas) ??????????? Those are all great pictures, and I have to hand it to you; I've driven ALL OVER Texas, and only ever found a couple of sirens. You have the magic eye to find those!

The off center rotator on the T-Bolts indicates that it is a "C" series T-Bolt. This was some kind of experiment done by Federal to see if it was better for maintenence. They were in production for only the last few years when the T-Bolts were made.

The red birdcage looking siren might be a Darley siren. Same with the other one that looks like a Model 5, only with the rounded top.

This is correct. The Thunderbolt located northeast Jackson, Michigan was constructed like this. Apparently, Federal attempted to move the pipe to see if it could make a difference and force more air to the chopper, and increase the dBC rating. Likewise, they wanted to make a modification to the rotor mechanism, which I think also played a part in this redesign.

You mean "B" series I didn't think of this until a few minutes ago actually. These Thunderbolts should have the C-face motors in the chopper assembly. It's finally nice to see one of these out in the wild!

I suppose there is a very small chance of that siren being some sort of converted 2000.

And as for the compliment, thank you. I'm confident Bwillcox and Jkvernon could tell you that I am rather good at finding sirens from afar ;_*

If I remember, those "B" Series Thunderbolts had some major issues with the rotor/motor assembly slipping out of alignment and rubbing on the stator. Adam Smith I believe had a Thunderbolt head that was a B series.

I have one of the offset 1003 Thunderbolts, but the serial number indicates that it is a "C" series Thunderbolt, not a "B" series. Thankfully, I have yet to have that problem with the rotor/motor assembly. Could that problem possibly have something to do with bearing failure?

I had to commute out of LBB this weekend and it didn't look like I was going to be able to jump seat out there...so lucky for yall, I had to drive and I got one or twenty more pics. Still more to come at a later time....

Runaway Bay has this Allertor, which I think came from the old Ft. Worth system.




further east along the US 380 Corridor: Graham.. Once upon a time, the world here had one or two Hurricanes. Now they don't. :[ They upgraded with ASC too...which is good I suppose.

They were littered with these little things...but I didn't have the time to go search them all out. All I was taking pics of was sirens I could see from the highway..I didn't go out of my way.

Ummmm Throckmorton was next according to google maps. They had these two noisemakers..



and then this little M-5 or whatever a little ways off.



I'm pretty sure this model boring was in Haskell...um...or newcastle. Shoot they all run together out this way haha. A little help james?

THESE, however were in Rule, which I expected to have 0 sirens. Lovely.

2 very randomly placed at the edge of town......in someone's driveway. I have a feeling that they may have 2 or more sirens on the south side of town but my eagle eyes can only see so far.




Kind of a gap after that. I zipped right through Post/Garza and saw a model 5...that's Jame's turf though and it's not like 5's are very interesting.

So cruisin on up 84...ooh look a town with a population of about 2 has an Allertor. fun. (Southland) Not too much to this town...if that. There are more oil pump sites than there are people.





Slaton has these SD-10s...I think they have about 6 or 7...im not too sure. like i said, no time to really "hunt" just what i could plainly see.

This one was at high school.

This next one is def, a "i-got-lazy-and-didnt-bother-to-get-out-of-the-honda-shot"



In facttt, I got so lazy that I just popped open the sun roof for this one. It be old.



Well I had reached Lubbock after this, and they really don't have any sirens. Preston Smith, Int'l is on the NE side of town and I didn't feel like venturing down to Texas Tech where all they have are a few STH-10s. So I decided to just drive out 82 East until the sun went down. I didn't get really that far, but hey...I pushed it to the limit haha.

so I turned around...there is this rest stop along there and on the exit sign it said TORNADO SHELTER INSIDE...well I thought I'd snap a pic for yall of the sign in the b-room...actually it's kind of funny...a tornado chasing a handicapped person. hope he can wheel fast.....

That T-112's pole looks almost like it could have been an original Hurricane location as it has what looks like a built-in air pipe.
