The 70 series were dual tone and sounded good. They were, I'm practically certain, the most "junior" of the Federal sirens that coasted. I believe they could be ordered with brakes or without. I know the 60 series didn't coast. We had a 60 on our ambulance that supplemented the electronic siren. We had a Brockway engine that had a high-pitch 60 and a regular pitch 60, one of each fender, but they didn't sound good together.

New video of the VG. Did a through cleaning of the inside and outside and repainted it a glossy white with red on the rotor. Apologies for the off-white look, the lighting distorts the color on the video a bit.

how do you find these sirens. im in the process of getting a old dome rotor light from a junk yard in the area. if i could find one of those to go along with it great.

Speaking of vehicle sirens, what Federal vehicle siren has a long coastdown? We have one of these on our firetrucks and I can't figure it out. It's no Q
I just bought a C4B which is the same as the one pictured above but not chromed. I will try and make a video of this and post it.
One of the best ways to find them is Ebay. Do a search on vintage sirens.

Was it the one taken off a Mack Firetruck without the front cover? John Dorgen can help you if you are going to restore it. The dualtones are cool. They tend to make people take a second look.

Yeah, they sound more like an air raid siren than a vehicle siren.

That will be a nice siren and should be easily restored to new condition. Does it have a brake? They used the same brake as a Q and it was mounted on the side of the motor housing. Maybe there is a hole pre-drilled for the brake plunger. You can find those on ebay also. Congratulations on your new prize.
