The majority of the ones ACA made were dual tone (9/12 port), but I've heard that they made a few single tone 8 port ones. I haven't come across a single tone one yet.

I'm not sure, but I don't think that the cone is adding necessary air resistance for the motor so much as it is just aiding with the intake of air, so I don't think the siren should have a bad problem.

Great pictures, nonetheless! Poor cone!

This my be a little off the original topic, but what else does Macon have besides 2001s and this Howler? I went through there about 3 or 4 years ago and all I saw were 2001s.

In addition to those, they have a LOT of Whelens, and some Thunderbolts here and there that are still active. I've also seen a STH-10 over on the east side, on the side of Macon near Highway 16, which is also where the Thunderbolts and the majority of the Whelens are. The northern/eastern side of Macon is where all the 2001s and this Howler are.

Oh wow, didn't know they made that port ratio for them! Did they ever make any 8/12 P-10s or P-15s? Now that you mention that, I wonder if this one could be a 8/12 instead of a 9/12 like I'm thinking? Either way, all I can tell from my pictures of it so far is that it's dual tone, since it has 2 rows of ports on the chopper.

What does an 8/12 siren sound like? it's been a while since I've heard a recording of one and really can't remember.

Awesome find! I've always wanted to see a Howler! What exactly is the difference between a Howler and a Penetrator? How many Howler's were made and what's the dB of it? Great job Ian!

I think the 8/12 port sounds like a p 50/t135...
