Hey thanks for the photos! I have the whole bunch of ones I took on my HDD, but I never had the ones of that chopper assy. opened up like that. Those are VERY cool units. The wildest thing is that given the fact that their blades are angled, and the lightness and low friction of the chopper motors, the blower can blow the chopper around. This can be clearly heard in the Milwaukee recording on YouTube.
My little random fact rant of the day!

It looks as if ACA didn't really care as to which way they oriented the rotors, as I see the ten-port facing the bottom in one unit and the eight-port in the other unit. Cool pics, too!

I guess the motor could install either way since it goes up into that tube like that.

Now I also see as to why the Hurricane's motor-housing has the huge chunks of metal bulging out of each stator - to let air get up into the top rotor through the sides.

I have always wondered how they made the controls for the hurricane work, as well as how they made them work as a control and a timer.

So accordion to this post, it's safe to assume Darien has more than one hurricane but now they only have the black one right?

Great to see it went to a collector instead of a scrap heap somewhere. I'm all about historic preservation, and seeing a rare siren being saved... Is a good day.
I agree

Is everyone aware they're responding to a 7 year old thread?

Yea? Unless they reverted the rules back to the original i thought it was okay as long as it contributes... which I thought my question did... maybe not though. Sorry if it didn't.
