A BIG thanks to Brent Wilcox! He sent me the complete set of contest 2 entries, and the first four contest 3 entries.

So far, I have:

Most recordings late 2001 and prior
Siren Contest 2
The first four recordings of contest 3
Contest 4
Various recordings from around 2004 (plus or minus a year, including LIFA recordings)

I'm STILL looking for:

Contest 1 recordings (specifically the two I originally requested, if it jogs your memory, it was hosted late 2001, not long after 9/11)
The rest of the Contest 3 entries (I believe I have most of them scattered around, but they aren't marked.)

Thanks again guys, We almost have them all!

Ron, that's one of them! I remember that was our first recording of a 6/5 500AT.

Brent...THANKS!!!! Brent had both files I was looking for....just as good as I remember to!

Besides those, there are only a few other recordings on the 1st and 3rd contests I lack. Thanks again!

Alright guys, I only lack a few more recordings from the 1st and 3rd contests.

From the first contest I lack:

- 3/5 minute Thunderbolt 100T in alert, filename was ThunderboltinAlbertLea.mp3
- A Whelen "WS2800", filename was ws2800.mp3
- About 4 Thunderbolt system recordings from Cincinnati (Jae recorded these, I'll see if I can get up with him).
- And a "Darley Dual Head", filename was Darleyshort.mp3
(there are a couple more, but they were of terrible quality so i'm not worried about them)

And from the 3rd contest I lack:

- Entry 6, Praire-du-Sac noon test from all sirens (A 10v2t, Decot, and an Allertor)
- Entries 15 & 19, ACA Alertor fitted with a brake sounding the Yelp signal and a Super Banshee in Hi-lo (Joe, I know these were your's do you mind sharing those again?)
Entry 16, a Siratone 612 in attack during a tornado warning with voice (Byron, I'm positive this is one you sent me)

- Also, anyone remember the "mooing" Thunderbolt recording from way back when? Abe Bush recorded it, and the filename was something liek "mooingtornadosiren" or something. (it was recorded during a real warning and you can hear people talking and laughing)

And...thats it!

Was this Entry no. 6? It was labelled "Alert test of all sirens" from Prairie du Sac.

Brent just keeps pulling recordings out of thin air  I now have all the 1st siren contest recordings. Thanks again for like the 3rd time!

500_AT_fan, thanks for the link, but I think I have that recording already. I'm not sure if thats the entry though (I can't remember). Now, I'm just waiting for Joe (Archon) to chime in.

For another recap, we are now down to:

-Byron's 612 during a tornado warning
-Joe's Yelping Alertor and Super Banshee in hi-lo
- The "mooing" Thunderbolt siren

I always thought the old siren contest recordings were neat. I've only heard four of them, though.

I know Bill Nagler has the tape with the Allertor doing Yelp and the Banshee 115 doing Hi-lo recordings you mentioned. He doesn't have them on a computer file, sadly, but at least we can assure the recordings still exist.

No problem man.

Its been fun to dig with you and Dave Fritz and a couple of the other remaining old timers start spouting off file names or descriptions and I take a look in my Sirens folder, and sure enough there it be just like we remember it.

Now you're running up into where I took my break, so I'll have to settle for the hat trick.

We can show the young guns here how we used to do it.

warningsirens.org style. 8)

"Did somebody say Thunderbolt?"
