I guess that putting them against the rotor vanes at that time didn't hurt.

I could growl my Model 2 with the battery from an 18 volt drill. A couple of them in series could get up to several hundred RPM.

The motors on those Carters seem to average about ten or so inches. I am not sure about many others.
