One of the main reasons the Thunderbolt outsold the Hurricane is because ACA didn't push it hard enough. That, and they were mantainence hogs.

Another problem is ACA wanted a full line up of sirens to fit every city/town. They never really promoted one siren over the other in the early days.
Hurricane sirens had a 30HP blower motor So you needed a big Transformer for it and Small towns did not this big of service
ACA never intended the Hurricane 130 (in either form, mind you) for small towns, only big cities.
Keep in mind there used to be many more Hurricanes out there in the past, as opposed to what's left today.

The faint Hurricane in the video of Darien,IL sounds the very same as the main one, I think.

The only reason that the name is spelled "screemer" is due to the amazingly-high percentage of young Americans who are unable to spell basic English words or to write with any semblance of correct grammar.

The Darien Hurricane was not working right in all the videos of it.
