AKSoapy29 responded to one of my videos on YouTube asking:

How can I get one of the ones there taking down?

I responded saying: I don't know what they are going to do with them. They might just be scraping them. I will ask this question on the Cincinnati Area Metropolitan forum on the siren board and let you know what I hear.

So what are they doing with the ones that are being removed?

Thanks!

Ask SIRENMAN, he should know. I know a neighboring county wanted 59 of the old ones.

Old sirens

Butler county wants 59 units and Hamilton county expects them to pay for their removal and transportation. Each community owns there own sirens and will be responsible for their removal. The communities are not aware of this yet, but they will know soon.

What I do not understand is why a community is going to pay a thousand dollars to remove a siren, $1000 to 2000 to refurbish and transport the siren and 4500 to install the siren plus radio when they can have a new siren with 3db more output rating for close to the same price.

Amtrak3501 from YouTube filmed the Thunderbolt 1000 on top of Cardinal Pacelli School in Mt. Lookout on Wednesday, and it only growled for some reason, no alert or attack. To me it sounds like it may be a high pitched 1000. We're guessing the reason may be because the power might have been cut to the building during the testing time. It is also a jailbar Tbolt. He possibly might not get back to it, so could somebody possibly next month get another video of it, hoping it will sound in alert and attack?

Anybody heard anything new lately? I've been looking for news articles and updates on thermaltechs website but nothing new has came up.

I have a testing question, since this is the "Cincinnati Metropolitan Area Sirens" topic I thought I would ask this here. With the way they test right now, do all of them test in, "growl, alert, attack," and do the 1212s test this way too? I have seen one video of one of the 1212s but it had blown drivers (sound card?).

In the background, you can hear that for the growl, it's just a very short alert signal since they can't do a growl like mechanical sirens. And for some reason, they sound alert 2 times and no attack. Every other siren in the county should test the regular "growl, alert, attack" way. I wonder how it will work for the iForces in downtown, they will probably use the voice capability.
