Just saw this on Thermaltech's website. The amount of sirens was specified in the bid paperwork, but yet ASC managed to convince Hamilton county that they need to buy 20 more sirens.

08/25/11 - All contracts are in for approval. EMA is buying 20 more sirens to complete the new and replacement workload. Project should be starting any day.

Hmm that's interesting that they are buying 20 more sirens. Could be to give the more condensed areas more coverage?

5 bucks they are going to replace the 32 Federal sirens and the 20 replaced Federals will be sold to Butler County.

This means the 2001s are being replaced? I guess we don't need to worry about the possibilites of ASC controls breaking a Federal siren, or Federal siren breaking ASC controls. :)

Guess

Just a guess, but it is ASC's way to hoodwink Hamilton County

First it was, "we'll replace the controls with our stuff", now it's "we'll replace the whole damn thing with our stuff".

Bet $100 this project is already on it's way to becoming overbudget.

Over budget

It can't be over budget as it is a grant. What will and has happened is that each community will have to pay to remove their own sirens. My bid was all inclusive at $950,000.00 and they split the bid apart and then used State Term to circumvent the bidding process and the finished project cost will be at least 1.3 or 1.4 million which is 400,000 over my price. Something just does not smell right

Government money is involved, so someone's going to try and get as much money out of it as possible.

Oh cool, I've never noticed it before. I have seen a white STH-10 on top of a building next to the Cell Phone Lot.
