Werden doesn't have the job of removing the old sirens and installing the new one. The old sirens sadly may be just thrown away with this new company. ;(

But they still should have the job of maintaining the siren system. ANS Serivces is in New Jersey, so it would be very inconvenient to have them as maintaining sirens every month that malfunction for tests.

Do they really? That's news to me. It was my understanding that ANS was permanently contracted to the system. Then again, I rarely check this topic, so I just get bits and pieces.

Well, ANS is the ones who are installing the new sirens and supposed to be ugrading 63 existing sirens, and maybe even removing some of the old sirens.

Was removing the old sirens in the contract or not?

Most of them should be under a different contract. In the packet for the new installations, for decomissioning notes on some of the old sirens, some locations it just says to abandon them after disconnecting them, while others it says to remove. The ones where it says to remove don't seem to have been removed yet though.

Hey guys! Last time (Actually, the last FEW times) I tried to record one of Hamilton countys sirens, they failed. Do you think I should try again this upcoming first Wednesday, or stick with something local or something I am almost POSOTIVE will go off? (Do you think the reason thay are failing is because they are switching power between the sirens?)
Anyway, tell me what you think I should do!

In many cases, yes. For example, the power station near my house has a Thunderbolt that's been disconnected and a T128 that hasn't been hooked up yet.
I haven't heard of any widespread failures. They might have just cancelled the tests due to weather, or certain national holidays. I'd say go with something local.

The last widespread failure was in October when none of the sirens in the county activated for some reason. There haven't been any cancelled tests between this month and January 2009 which is when the last cancelled test before this month was due to a de-railed train in Western Hamilton County. And 4J25 has only filmed sirens since last year it seems, so no way he had bad luck with a cancelled test.
