Re: Fantasy Siren Map Challenges!

Sat Feb 20, 2016 9:23 pm

Time for:
Challenge #3

Briefing: Our focus for this FSMC will be Miami-Dade County, in Florida. It's county seat is... you guessed it: Miami, with a population of 417,650 (as of 2013). In light of the recent tornadoes, the county has decided to install new sirens. Now, as this is a very large county, and placing the same siren over and over again would be boring, you can have older sirens as well (just have a newer system as well). Enjoy!

ENDING TIME: Friday, February 26, at 5:00 EST

Here is my submission for FSMC #3

https://www.google.com/maps/d/edit?mid= ... sp=sharing

The County Decided that there was a need of a Civil Defense Siren Systems. Due to Budget and Zoning issues, the county was split into the northern half and southern half. The northern half opted for an ACA System consisting of P-15s, Cyclones, Hurricanes, and Banshees. In the late 1990s, the system was upgraded with new ASC OM-117s to cover dead zones. In 2008, Federal Grant money was used to buy Several Tempest Sirens of all types to replace broken sirens and fill in dead zones.

The southern half opted for a Federal Signal System consisting of Thunderbolt 1000s and 4/5 1000Ts, SD-10s, 2T22s, STL-10s, and 500ATs. The system was upgraded in 2014 with new 508s and a Model 2 to comply with federal sound regulations. 2 DSA sirens were also added at the zoo.

Hope y'all enjoy, this took awhile to make.

Here is my submission:

Miami-Dade County FSMC

Map Information:

In 1955, Miami-Dade County purchased 7 Chrysler Warning Sirens, along with 64 Thunderbolts, 2T22's, and 2T's. In the mid 1970's, the county had grown quite a bit, therefore the county purchased another 121 Thunderbolt Sirens to cover the area and also retrofitted the existing sirens with Federal Signal Siratrol Radios. In the mid 1980's, Dade county had grown considerably once again, as a result the county purchased 26 ACA P-50's & Allertor 125's, covering the area that had grown. The 7 Chrysler Sirens were also converted to electric, 7 140hp electric motors were purchased and installed in place of the old Chrysler Engines into the old Chrysler Sirens to make them less maintenance intensive and more reliable. At the same time, the entire system was upgraded from Federal Siratrol Radio Controls to ACA CompuLert 800 radio controls. In 1999-2002, all of the Old Federal Signal sirens and the 7 Chrysler sirens were completely Refurbished. The sirens were powder-coated yellow to help withstand the salt air conditions. In 2014, the old Federal 2T Sirens on the Florida International University Campus were replaced with 5 Modulator 3012B Sirens for voice capability. 5 Modulator 8032B's were also added in the Virginia Key area. At the same time, the entire siren system was upgraded once again, and all of the existing sirens were retrofitted with Federal Signal FCTB Radio controllers for 2 way activation and monitoring.
