Honestly I am more concerned for the safety of people on the ground, or in the building.

An uncontrolled removal like that just spells hazard.

Hi, glad you liked my photo! I was wondering why it was suddenly getting hundreds of hits and it led me here so i thought I'd tell you about it. This was an old fire station just along the road from where I live. It had stood derelict for many years then it was demolished in 1993 to make way for an extension to the school next door. It was a familiar landmark to me, standing on the highest point of Hastings West Hill and I was sorry to see this lovely old Victorian building go. This area was badly bombed in WWII and I imagine the fire station with its siren played an important part in saving the lives of locals. I don't know how I managed to be there with my camera just as the siren was levered off the chimney, but I'm glad I was able to capture this poignant moment in its destruction. The building below was alread in ruins and there was certainly no danger of anyone being underneath when it went.
