It had stood derelict for many years then it was demolished in 1993 to make way for an extension to the school next door. It was a familiar landmark to me, standing on the highest point of Hastings West Hill and I was sorry to see this lovely old Victorian building go. This area was badly bombed in WWII and I imagine the fire station with its siren played an important part in saving the lives of locals. I don't know how I managed to be there with my camera just as the siren was levered off the chimney, but I'm glad I was able to capture this poignant moment in its destruction. The building below was alread in ruins and there was certainly no danger of anyone being underneath when it went.
