WOW! FS is really trying to compete with ASC on this one.

Does it use the same 6.5 hp motor as the Eclipse? Oh and if you look at the rotor, you'll see they started using the same folded-vane design as ASC.

That's a really cool looking siren. I'll suggest the 508 to some EM directors around here who are about to put out RFP's on new sirens. Hopefully it will be priced the same as the 2001.

What's so cool about the 508 its just a specialized horn and backing on an Eclipse.
Look at the 4th photo down that kdksiren put up and you can see the ports emerging like on an Eclipse-NH where the horns on an Eclipse-8 would connect to it. Same shape and everything. Except the horn here is a directional horn.
The motor then has assumedly been moved to the back, necessitating the roundback. The area where it curves looks like a panel that can be opened to access the innards.
I'm liking this siren more and more as I continue to look it over. This seems like an ultra-intelligent design.

These would sound excellent mixed in with some 2001s. Separate 8 and 12 port sirens harmonizing at different times.
Can't wait to see a video of one in action.

I'd like to see if AmSig will respond to this with a yet crazier design.

Ever since '05 or so, competition between the two companies has heated up quite a bit!

Unreasonable spouses, huh?
I got a siren for my wife...I thought it was a pretty good trade

I'm interested in hearing what they sound like. Hopefully they have a much lower pitch than the 2001s.
The 508 will be coming to the website very soon. Amarillo gets the first 508 in Texas and three (3) more 508s will soon be installed in Wilson, OK.
Could you give more info on the Wilson 508s, as well as if any other 508's will be installed in OK like maybe in Woodward? I'd like to try and see if I can get a recording.

I wish they would stick to a standard naming convention. That is one ugly siren btw.

I don't think it's too bad looking of a siren and think it may grow on the ones who don't like its looks. I think that if it had a cone in the center like the 2001 and the red FS logo it would look a little nicer. But siren manufactuers don't design sirens to be pretty, just so that they be effective in alerting the public in the most efficient way.
Like everyone else, I'm anxious to hear what it sounds like, and already I'm thinking it'll be similar to the Eclipse, but more powerful, and probably what we wanted the 2001 to sound like in the first place. But this is all speculation on my part and I guess we won't know for a few days or so yet.
Is it for sure that the 2001s days are numbered?! It seems logical with the introduction of the 508, but I guess we won't know for awhile yet.
