Oh its worse than that; they were broken down circa 2008 and totally dismantled in 2011. They claim replacement parts were no longer available as well. I'm so confused as to how ATI seems to have issues keeping "replacement parts" on hand (it seems to be a theme in ATI failures, among other things). Its absurd they can't make controllers/amps/what have you to last 10 years! The fact that St. Louis just replaced 30 year old Whelens says something!

The old Garland sirens (Hurricanes etc.) had old ATI control cabinets when they were removed. I think they patched the system over the years and by the time it was all over and done with they had really old ATI stuff mixed with newer ATI stuff. It was a mess. I do remember talking to one of the Garland city guys way back when and he said that the ATI stuff was always a pain to deal with. He didn't seem happy that they were getting more of it.
The Hurricanes were sold at two different auctions that I knew of. I think there might have been 5 hurricanes in Garland. There were at least 4. There was one at the fire station on Jupiter, one off of shiloh back by an intersection of drainage channels behind some houses, another off of Shiloh by the car wash and I think one off of Centerville. I think there was one in a park up off of Garland Road too. The only remnant I have of the Garland Hurricanes is this.....

This sticker just happened to fall off of a Hurricane blower cover one night. Me and a buddy of mine were "checking out" one out just after it was installed. Funny that the sticker just happened to "fall off" blower cover while we were there.
Two Hurricanes were sold at auction in 2001 and two more in 2003. Maybe there were just 4. I had no idea they were called Hurricanes until the "internets" came around and I saw the name online. Probably on this board is were I first heard the name.
I do have pics of the first two that were sold at auction when they were sitting at the city service center.

There is still a double sided 6 horned rotating siren on at the bridge across from garland high school. I think it was used for the old flood siren system garland had for duck creek back in the day.

Its spoken for and is not available. There are 3 units left standing in Garland and they'll be coming down in the coming weeks, I'm working with the guys doing the installs and the 3 left should be coming down into safe hands.

You mean this siren? It appears to be an Alertonic that doesn't rotate.

Edit: Just saw the post above mine.

I was wondering if they were going to remove garland's unoperating old flood siren system too. I remeber seing some older whelen units in the neighborhood along duck creek.

Garland didn't have any old whelen's last I checked, They had a number of DSA style ATIs and then a number of the newer style ATIs plus two older ACA sirens.

EDIT: The siren you have in the picture above was not on any of the maps I was handed, I'll have to investigate if this unit is even standing still.
