Jefferson county Kentucky tests at 12:00 noon on the second Tuesday of the month, weather permitting and if there is not any other hazards in the county at the time of testing.

Siren test

Sun Jan 19, 2014 2:42 pm

The city of Schenectady sounded their Civil Defense sirens (a system of SD-10s and a jailbar thunderbolt) on the Third Friday of the month. Now that it is defunct, the Noon test siren is the 2001-DC, while the other sirens (a Model 2, 2 STL-10s, 3 STH-10s, a Sterling Y-10, and an older-style housing Model 5) go off for either drill, fire, or 4/6 PM test (they are all FD sirens).

Monday thru Friday at 7pm and 7:30 and then Saturday at noon is when 911 tests all county fire sirens. Not all sirens sound at once, each different fire company has a different assigned test day and time. They also get a good workout whenever that firehouse gets paged out.

Drumright, Oklahoma is the 1st day of the month. Unless it is a holiday, Saturday, Sunday, weather or if another siren is down. When one of the sirens goes down they will not test till it is fixed. We do not test on weekends for 2 reasons. 1 People are home and the city is afraid they will think a Tornado is coming. 2 Some people can't get the point that they are now called Outdoor Warning Sirens for the Outdoor people and they feel it should be heard in their homes and say "Well why would anybody be outside during a Tornado!"

Gwinnett County, GA.

We do not have a county system, but a few cities have their own systems (Norcross, 2 colleges in Lawrenceville, Sugar Hill, Dacula, Duluth). They follow a standard testing time of 1st Wednesday of every month at 12:00 sharp, depending on weather conditions, of course.

The only siren "system" in my area (Ulster County, NY) that I know of is the Sturgeon Pool Dam Hydroelectric Plant siren system, which as far as I can tell consists of one T-128. They typically test once a year, usually in either November or December, sounding Alert for about a minute.

With like four known exceptions, the only sirens in the county are those used by fire departments, and several of them do daily noon blasts. Go up north a bit and nearly every department does them.
