It was nearly a tie between anepstad, Josh555 and MarkN, they were all very cool. In the end I went with...

Josh555
Congratulations Josh for winning FSMC #2! You have gotten yourself a spot on the leaderboard!

I liked his map because it covered the entire county, and did it efficiently and was cost effective. I also like the fact that there were Modulators in the downtown area, that way there is voice capabilities where most of the people will be. He seemed to perfect;y cover the airport with only two WPS-2805s and a 2804, and I also liked the addition of the E-Classes at UofL.

I'd like to congratulate everyone else as well, the maps were very cool and deserve to be mentioned. Thanks to everyone who participated! Stay tuned for FSMC #3!

Did you use that editor tool from outside of google maps to make those circles? I tried to use that tool and Eau Claire's map was too big to save.

FSMC #3

Briefing:
Time for number three! For this one I have picked Richardson County, Nebraska, just to change things up a bit. Richardson County is the southeastern-most county in Nebraska. There are a few small towns, and the biggest town is Falls City. Being in Nebraska, this county is going to need a reliable system, but also loud sirens. Let's see what you all can come up with!

This FSMC starts at 4:45 PM EDT and ends at 8:30 PM EDT.

Here's my attempt. As you can see, I again went for coverage over cost here - this Whelen system covers all the towns, a couple of the small dots, and both Kirkman's Cove Recreation Area and Camp Cornhusker with good clean ESC-2030 sound. Voice capability is only found in Falls City, Kirkman's Cove and Camp Cornhusker to cut back on the cost a little (and because I don't really think the other towns need it).

Well, the new system does anyway - for the heck of it I included, as a separate layer, some random old fire sirens and organized old systems for Humboldt and Falls City. It isn't really meant to be taken seriously, but feel free to judge it alongside the new system if you like.

Protocol:
Test: Saturdays at noon, 30 second alert + voice message T1 on capable sirens.
Severe t'storm: Kirkman's Cove sirens do 30 second air horn + voice message STW1. No other sirens are activated.
Tornado: 3 minutes of alert + voice message TW2 on capable sirens.
Don't wait. Take a siren photo today.
I was VASirens, but I moved.Check out IRC!

So, the only participators this time were anepstad and VASirens. Both of their maps were good, but in the end I had to go with...

anepstad

Congratulations on winning anepstad! I picked his map because it used few sirens and used them efficiently. He used loud, mechanical sirens to get the message out quickly, and overall did a good job.

However... I did like VASirens use of voice capable sirens in crucial areas, like the camping areas and Boy Scout camp. They were both good maps either way!

I might recommend that when you give results for one challenge, you also release the next one. Personally, I haven't been able to participate in any of them due to being busy between the time they are released and the time the challenge is over. This would allow more people to have an opportunity to participate in it.

That sounds like a good idea. I'll have to start doing that!
