The Siren Board

Something tells me that Screamer in Hartford, Iowa is probably shot because somehow between 8/2013 (streetview date) and now it lost it's top, thus leading snow and rain water to get into the siren and probably destroy it,.

You're probably right...in fact, it looked like its power source may have been detached from the body of the siren itself. And that leaves the town of Hartford, Iowa without any early warning system.

Here's a stumper that turned up on the Swainsboro, GA water tower while I was doing research for...a certain project related to something I've done a lot of. I'm leaning Sterling or Darley, but...any thoughts?

Looks like a Model 5 to me.

Found this little guy in Midville Georgia, looks to be a small siren like a Model A but it almost appears to be rotating. The Swainsboro siren is an old Fedelcode Model 7 (circa late 1920s) missing the lower part of its housing. I think they had it down at one point fairly recently to give it an overhaul, but the housing has been missing for a long time prior to that. They also moved it up to the top brace when they re-mounted the siren; it used to be straddling the same corner on the brace below where it sits now.

That siren in Midville is a single-headed Sterling Little Giant. For some reason I think they might have two of them in town but I cannot remember where the second one is for the life of me, if it even exists.

Here are a few sirens I found during a small hunt around the counties around mine.

Darley STH-10 and single headed Sterling. Most people call it the N-5 or N-10 instead of M-5 or M-10.
