In da 'Radio biz', it's referred to as HAAT; Height Above Average Terrain. (and that's pronounced as "hyt", not "hyt-th". The Pronunciation Policeman has spoken!)

And more; maybe 20, 25 feet up?

This one ain't much better; Middlesex, NC Vol. Fire Dept.; right at the back of the building.

You can also move around to the street to your left, and look along the back side of the building.

That one isn't really low. I've been by that station a couple times and its on a normal sized pole. Heck, the Fairview station SD10 in Cary is lower than that thing lol.

I've seen those on The Siren Archive.
Resident of a county with big a mixture of sirens, but in the process of being replaced. :(

I like how both horns are pointed the same direction.

the 2001 replaced the 1003 which broke i was there photographing the fire trucks in late 09 and asked bout that. it cost too much to get the 1003 taken down so they left it up i was thru that area earlier this year and i think the blizzard of early 2010 helped to take the 1003 down. as it was laying on the ground

Nice catch Calvin! When I used Streetview throughout West Unity, I did not see that!
