The siren you are talking about is measured in A-weighted dB ratings instead of C-weighted dB ratings like we are used to. To answer your question, yes, they did use a different way of measure sound output. There really is no direct conversion between them either. In order to get a dB(C) rating, they would have to use a device that measures dB(C) instead of dB(A).

The Super Sirex was 125, and the "Toshiba" was apparently a locally made siren.

Does anyone have pictures of the CTIs? I couldn't find any. Thanks for the ratings though. I'd like to get more ratings for older sirens, since most of the ones I have now are currently available models.
By the way, is there a reason that ATI doesn't give decibel ratings on their website?

Regardless of how loud they are you'll never pass them off as a siren.

I remember they used to have decibel ratings on their website. I think the HPSS16 is 121, and the HPSS32 is 126.

What really made my stomach twist was that back in '04 they advertised their large arrays from something like 128 dB to 130!

I mentioned the 812, and that I remembered seeing a brochure for it and the 408, showing the 408 being 128, and Dane County getting 124 out of their 612s, and the 612 is the model between the 408 and 812, so I highly doubt the 812 is actually 132.
