The Siren Board

The Modulator replaced the EOWS as an improvement. Its like when a species evolves. Would you call (although some people won't) the 2001 series an improvement on the Thunderbolt, design wise? The thunderbolt design was outdated by the time the 2001 came around.

The modulator was a much louder siren than the 1212, making the 612 obsolete since they were able to make a loud omni. In my opinion, rotating electronic sirens are a waste if you are going to use voice. Simply for the reason that you have to rotate the sirens in all different directions and repeat the message. So if you had a prerecorded messsage that you want to repeat twice, you would move that siren around 8 times. This is why I'm not a fan of Whelen 4004's with message chips.

Especially with speaking Spanish with it, it's gonna take awhile

As an improvement? I'm pretty sure a whole new siren with a new name, and different design is not an improvement whatsoever.

Well, there are a few atvantages:

• 1. Modulators are Omni-Directional only
  2. You can have different sized Modulators for different coverages; EOWS are always the same dimensions
  3. No collector rings (as mentioned)

I'm not trying to bash the EOWS series, but when a manufacturer changed a design in a specific division, it is usually to be an improvement. When, and if it is, an improvement and sales go up, it replaces the former lineup. Remember that some EOWS had driver problems after a short time. Again, not trying to bash the EOWS series

Actually the EOWS came in several sizes. They had the EOWS 115, 408, 612, 812, 1212, and that weird version that was made to mount on top of a car.

#1 What does that have to do with anything
#2 EOWS sirens came in different sizes too (as holler stated)
#3 Could something be done to make them more reliable?
