So the gas powered kind were single tone and the electric were dual?
That is correct.

The Mobil Directo siren in the Milwaukee video was withdrawn around 1959, and rebuilt by B&N with an electric motor. It would have had a gas engine when it was new.

If our post-love extension was working, I would punch the crap out of the like button!

Absolutely great read!

For those curious about what happened to Biersach & Niedermeyer, here's what became of the company.

After four generations of ownership under the Biersach family, Biersach & Niedermeyer was sold off in 1999 to the Isbister family. Here is the current company's website:

http://www.genmet.com/about/history/

The siren division (ACA) was sold off in the early 1990s and re-branded as the American Signal Corporation. Production of ACA sirens was gradually phased out upon the introduction of new siren lineups including the Tempest and iForce. Dale Moeller serves as president and CEO. In 1999, ASC moved to a new facility in Milwaukee, WI.
The last ACA siren manufactured was the P-50 (ASC RM-135, later T-135 AC) - it was discontinued in 2007. :P50:

Wow! You certainly know a lot about the Mobil Directo. I find it funny that B&N produced toilet seats, since some people say that the Mobil Directo/ACA Allertor looks like a toilet!

Are there any known videos of a gas powered mobil directo?

As mentioned earlier, any single tone MD is or was gas powered.

Siren fan is trying to ask if there are any videos of a MD with the gas motor on it. Personally, I have not seen any.

I don't think there is any Gas Mobil Directo videos out there, but there are a couple converted ones in Memphis and one in Milwaukee.

IIRC, wasn't there a user trying to get ahold of a gas MD?
