That is correct that is the location of the pole mounted hurricane the roof mounted one was located at Riverview school in Glendale it has since been removed and replaced by a P-15 the white looking Allertor being radio tested was located at an elementary school in Mequon and was replaced in 2014 by a T-135 AC/DC.Brendan W wrote:That hurricane is the one behind the FS at 81st and Bradley. I cross referenced the 1979-1980 footage with one of ramfett's videos of the :hurricane: , and both matched up exactly to my eyes. Even the power lines, house behind the siren, everything.connerdstines wrote:That Hurricane sure does look like the one near that fire department in Milwaukee. Always interesting to see what somewhat familiar places looked like decades ago. Also finally got to see a Cyclone chopper apart.
Yes it was that strange 8/12 rotor was used in the cyclones and then later the P-50 this film was made just before the P-50 was introduced that was why they were marketing the hurricane so much as a good 130 decibel siren.SirenMadness wrote:I'm pretty sure that strange 8/12 rotor was matched to the 40 or 50hp motor.
The rotor at 37:20 looks like a P-50 or Cyclone 120 rotor. When was all of this recorded?Chicagosiren-hunters wrote:I'm not sure what the second rotor is for shown at 37:20, but that is definitely 8/12. The rotor shown right before it in 9/12. I also agree with Zarlog, the Allertor looks to be 8/12.
