I have one. Our local siren is located in an empty bell tower, next to a grammar school. The siren has never been touched, but it's strange that they didn't mount it on the roof of the school or 'free' mount it on a telegraph pole. The building is listed, so having something mounted on the roof may have caused a lawsuit.

It's a standard Castle Castings siren in a lovely Mod pale blue (MoD= Ministry of Defence, FYI. The MoD also used grey or army issue dark green on their sirens as well.)

Paducah KY has a Thunderbolt on top of Lourdes hospital. Must suck if you're a cardiac patient.

Whilst we've dug this post up is the Thunderbolt atop the church in Fort Thomas still there? (First post on this thread mentions it).

Nope, that one has been replaced by a Modulator.

Darn, I'm good friends with the guy responsible for them in Campbell County - I wonder where it ended up.

I know him as well, and from what I recall, he said the Thunderbolts were scrapped. Them, along with the STH-10 that was along I-471 in Woodlawn. Luckily, most of the currently active EOWS-115 sirens should stay somewhat active, as he bought parts from someone in Washington state. (With the exception of the A.J. Jolly Golf Course siren, that one has been decommissioned)
