Sorry, but i'm sticking to the 2001-DC being a much better built siren than the 2001-130. How about instead of crappy we use the phrase "poorly engineered". Anything that is mechanical or electrical has the potential for failure regardless of price. Some more than others. I think that Federal rushes a lot of their products into production and works the bugs out along the way instead of doing extensive testing while they rely on their name to get the sales. This was true of the EOWS series which got rushed into production without working prototypes back in the 80s. The EOWS were neat sirens,but everyone knows they were not very reliable, and i'm betting they were not cheap either.
