Well. You know that pinhole in the oil pan I was talking about, it's more than a pinhole, it's a veritable piece of Swiss cheese! When I pulled it off I spotted the tiny little hole, so I took the wire brush to the surface to start the prep for a possible weld/jb weld repair. I quickly discovered the pan was more rotten than expected. I think the old oil that sat in the engine for 50 years became quite acidic, and created the holes.
No worries, went to Engines Service, and Phil was able to find me a NOS pan and gasket. Got it all back installed, and life is good now.
