Looks good Jerry! Also, when the governor linkage is fully tuned up, will it run at the full rpm steadily without any noticeable pitch changes?

It should. Since it is under no load right now, that could be partially be the cause. I know when I did my un-silenced tests it did not surge.

Got a brake cable from a local bike shop made up. I then began machining the bushings that the cable is installed in that will actuate the governor linkage. I also acquired a vintage GE timer box that will house all of the control circuitry. More work to come tommorow.
The goal is to test the function of the solenoid on the motor by end of day tommorow.

Got the battery box all spot welded back together, holes drilled for the mount and cover, and everything painted. Really looks nice. It's 100% correct and now just like new!

Got the upper rotator cover sanded and painted.

I also noticed as I was wrapping up, that it was 11:42 and a little over 15min till the weekly county test. So I cleared off the trailer, and moved the siren outside for a quick run at noon. It ran well, but the governor still needs to be adjusted so it can attain full speed.

Yes, as of the past couple weeks- I do have the projector off and the chopper blocked off for the time being, so regular un-muffled tests are postponed for the next little bit

Got the hardware for the throttle solenoid all finished and installed. Tested and it was 100% successful. Did initially run into the issue of the return spring on the governor linkage being too aggressive and pulling the solenoid plunger to far out for the magnetic flux to pull it back in. Removed the spring on the solenoid and installed it on the outside. Problem solved.

I was able to get the governor tuned to a point where it now runs 3000+RPM and steady with no surging. We will see if I Ned to readjust once I remove the chopper shrouding and let it start pumping air again.

Discovered I have an oil pan leak coming from a couple small holes on the side of the pan. Looks like they may be some unused ports for if you wanted to locate the drain pipe on the other side, and somehow these ports opened up for whatever reason. I will have to pull the pan off to confirm. The oil is drained for now.

Well. You know that pinhole in the oil pan I was talking about, it's more than a pinhole, it's a veritable piece of Swiss cheese! When I pulled it off I spotted the tiny little hole, so I took the wire brush to the surface to start the prep for a possible weld/jb weld repair. I quickly discovered the pan was more rotten than expected. I think the old oil that sat in the engine for 50 years became quite acidic, and created the holes.

No worries, went to Engines Service, and Phil was able to find me a NOS pan and gasket. Got it all back installed, and life is good now.

After proving the basic concept of the throttle solenoid, I have begun the final installation of the components to make the throttle control completely wireless. The main problem was finding a good place to place both the solenoid and control box. After playing around with the components, I finally found a good place for both, that is a good balance between Aesthetics and serviceability.

Well, I'm proud to announce this project is 100% mechanically complete! I did a full rotation/full speed test and recorded it on YouTube. Had some issues with the throttle relay not holding. Will be doing some more troubleshooting to figure out what is going on there.

Now all that is left is to paint the inside of the projector, stencil Mobil Directo Siren on the weather cover, and it is cosmetically complete as well. I will then proceed with reconditioning the trailer
