Cincinnati Metropolitan Area Sirens

I think it actually was still operational in the spring, as it did change positions again. To my understanding, any active old sirens only activate for a countywide activation, and are not programmed for zone activations. Hamilton County tests both ways to make sure everything works correctly. Now that I’m not driving by it everyday anymore, I can’t say whether it’s active or not.

The Thunderbolt 1000T at Middleboro Road and State Route 132 in Warren County failed this morning (it's the one in my avatar). I have a video going up on YouTube. Right after the tones went over, it did a very brief rotation then failed to sound. Could hear several sirens in the distance including what sounded like the Whelen in Morrow, the T-128 in Zoar, and possibly the P-15 in Goshen. At least that's what it sounded like. There may have been more sirens than those too. Video coming soon.

Nice, I also shot a video in Warren County today. This is the 2001-SRNB next to the Cintas headquarters in Mason, right across I-71 from Kings Island.

Sorry, let me rephrase that. Interested to see how many failed, to see if they're still working well. Should've clarified that.

Mr. Werden, this isn’t really related to Cincinnati but I’m Northeast Ohio, the ASC T-121 you guys installed over the summer in Vienna Township, OH failed to sound for January’s monthly siren test in Trumbull County. All other sirens in the county activated, including the other T-128’s in Vienna and in Trumbull County.

Niles, Lordstown, and Warren Control and maintain their systems separately but they are tested along with the county monthly at the same time (they have an assortment of Federal 2001 models). All their systems passed successfully.

This is a bit concerning because just two days after the test on Tuesday, January 8th, an EF-1 Tornado touched down in the Cortland area, not too far from Vienna Township at around 10:45 am EST.

According to NWS Cleveland, the tornado touched down and traveled for awhile before turning into a waterspout as it traveled across Mosquito Lake.

To my understanding, all sirens in Trumbull County were activated.

What you forgot to mention that the T-121 sounded for the tornado. Guess you overlooked that part.
